The project, developed in collaboration with the University of Rome “La Sapienza” (CE.R.S.I.TE.S Department), involves the use of innovative, non-destructive and non-invasive monitoring techniques aimed at defining cultivation protocols for valerian with zero chlorate and perchlorate content.
The techniques adopted will allow to study and evaluate the changes that occur during the crop cycle in relation to the different agronomic practices, supporting the objective of increasing production yield through a system compatible with organic farming.
Sapienza University will be responsible for the development, fine-tuning, implementation and verification of methodologies based on hyperspectral digital spectrophotometry operating in the ranges:
VIS (400–1000 nm),
NIR (1000–1700 nm),
SWIR (1000–2500 nm).
These techniques will allow rapid, simple and efficient monitoring of cultivation, correlating the collected data with the adopted agricultural practices, without the need for sampling or preparation of samples.
The project aims to create an innovative, sustainable and automated agronomic management system, capable of supporting the entire production cycle of valerian, guaranteeing product quality and compliance with food safety requirements.
